It's Hard To Defeat A Woman In Love

Just come back from a rather interesting simple and perfect reception of a dear friend. Apart from the multi national, multi religion, multi just about everything and everyone present at the function, even the 3 musketeers of Uganda where in attendance.

What I came to appreciate all over again is the wisdom and patience our elders have. In one of the shortest speeches with reference to marriage delivered by one of the elders, this is what he had to say to the groom...
We all have a precious gift of anger, so use it sparingly, don't waste it on simple things.
Having said, I truly appreciated what wisdom our elders have and how much we can learn from how they managed to live past their hardest of times and manage to survive today's challenges especially with respect to marriage.

The King Of Pop Is Dead

It's been announced that the King of Pop has passed away, just moments (days) to one of the greatest shows on Earth (The Last Curtain Call) in the UK | London. He was the first and last of his breed in terms of personality, character and above all performer. He has inspired and created but left a trail of knew breed of music video, performers and yep dance moves that evolved from what he started.

Hope we all take time to listen to "Man In The Mirror" I think there is a message of some sorts to all of us.

The King Is Dead

The King of Busoga, The Kyabazinga, Isebantu Henry Muloki Wako, has lost his battle to cancer he was pronounced dead today. May his soul rest in peace. You can read more about the Kyabazinga here

Fracture

No, I used to candle eggs at his farm. Do you know what that is? You hold an egg up to the light of a candle and you look for imperfections. The first time I did it he told me to put all the eggs that were cracked or flawed into a bucket for the bakery. And he came back an hour later, and there were 300 eggs in the bakery bucket. He asked me what the hell I was doing. I found a flaw in every single one of them - you know, thin places in the shell; fine, hairline cracks. You look closely enough, you'll find that everything has a weak spot where it can break, sooner or later
- Ted Crawford (Anthony Hopkins Character)
A short while ago was watching the movie Fracture on TV, I have always loved the characters chosen and played by Anthony Hopkins, there is something dark and deep about most of his characters he has played, and well this one was just another. Get some time and check out this movie "Fracture released in 2007"

Who Owes Who?

Well the dosage is done so it's now me against the viruses, my laundry is out drying it was all done thanks to outsourcing yesterday. Let's check out a few things that take place when you finally get your pay.

30% of the money you earn every month goes to the government scheme Pay As You Earn or commonly referred to as PAYE and every item you purchase at a stall in the supermarket or across the road often has already attracted an 18% VAT on it. Now totally the above 48% of the money you earn goes back to government right? If you use personal transportation you attract a series of taxations ranging from taxes on fuel to licenses on the car you have to road license etc, lets give or take a 5% going to government, so it comes down to about 53% of the money you earn theoretically goes back to government.

Now the 10% your company contributes towards NSSF is a good thing, thats your money and hopefully you will get it back when the time is right, just under a month ago actually NSSF dished out a whooping 14% on interest from 7% which was a good indicator, when they make profits with your money it is only fair if they pass on some of those profits to you and continue to invest the rest in meaningful respectable projects (Real Estate seems the way forward). Though just a week ago looks like they prolly must have misplaced some money somewhere and made bad choices with your money, but am sure they will sort it out.

Back to the 53% of your monthly salary that goes to government, when you get home you prolly pay 0.5% to 1% of your salary to the garbage collected monthly, about 1% to 10% of your monthly salary to security or the local Council. So we are looking at about 60% of your monthly salary going to Government. Now lets leave out medical insurance you need to pay and other taxations that I might have missed out or expenses you incur just to make it through the month like utilities, rent etc.

So from this 60% of your monthly salary you humbly give back to the government what do you want back in return? Good roads? better health facilities? better educational centers? Security? A Cash Back of some sort? All am just trying to say that if you work for one year, about 5 months of that year all you have been doing is work for the government and all proceeds go to the government, is the government investing your 60% wisely are they giving you the basics you want? Yes security I should say has relatively improved but in some sections it has totally gone wrong when the SPC came into picture, but none the less thought I would explain to you where your money is going, or is it?

Happy Birthday Ma

Great to see the mad dash at home to wish Mama a happy birthday, shaking like a leaf still with the effect of the drugs am taking, was able to wish her a happy birthday before Lea did :d.

Outsourcing Laundry

Skills and knowledge learnt at the job should not stay at the job, now after learning the benefits of outsourcing certain areas of one's business from the etsproject and hospitalproject and freeing your valuable time on your core business or core development areas, I had to throw in the white flag and "outsource" my laundry that had piled to heights never seen before it was a jungle in here, I have set the scene for the marathon wash, just awaiting the Outsourced person to show up while I still got sunlight out here cause I'mma remain in my tinys all day till some clothes start to dry up, am all out he better be here.

On the flip side people have always had different views about outsourcing work to other companies or countries regardless of the benefits, but in this global village we live in where time seems to mean alot than it did a few dozen years ago, it is much easier giving the work to someone who will get it done perfectly in a timely fashion and well the key word here is at a lesser cost.

Mangifera indica

Beautiful day today, if you wondering what the subject means, well asking wiki right here. thought I would sip in some great sunshine it is a sunny day it feels great, am certain all at the goat race will be thrilled with the weather, am sure they prayed to the gods cause last years or the year before's Goat Race certainly was pretty windy.

Anyways decided to check on the lil trees in the lil compound they are about seven different trees all stuffed in the lil compound with reasonable and acceptable spacing, the trees are now over and above the 3 meter height, we have to keep trimming them to prevent them growing wild and hitting the power lines place creeping into the neighbours house, anyways thats the list of my worries, but gues what? the mango tree got manglets (As Lea calls them) looks like we have a winner here been over two or three years since we planned it and it seems it is about to deliver its first fruit at an impressive 2 metre height.

Now when it comes to the Orange tree in the corner of the compound, some stubborn caterpillars keep eating up the leaves and after all these years it has not managed to get past the 1 meter mark hope it does some day, and hope I planted an Orange tree.

Turn Me Up

Just finished taking my morning doze of medication, the running nose is still doing the run, but there is something different, this is day two of taking the Artequin - 600/750 tabs, just a pair but the feeling is different from yesterday there was no feel from the first pair. For this pair, I feel like the temperature has been turned up in my body by 5 degrees, I think the first pair brings on the running nose to flush out those lil buggers, and the second pair turns up the heat in the body to flush out any rebellious ones that feel could not get flushed out the first time am worried what the last pair would do.

The dosage/treatment of malaria was changed about 8 months ago since these lil buggers had gained resistance to treatments that had been around for a while, looks like this 3 days 3 pair dosage is the real deal, hope it certainly works in three phases.

Can't Sleep

Can't Sleep, looks like as these drugs work there way in my body they have trigged off a running nose (well I remember the nurse at the pharmacy say Brian, drink lots and lots of fluids) I think she knows something about the medication that I don't I guess will have to Google up on what side effects these drugs have. But anyways got a running nose that seems no to go away morning is about to break, I guess am left with no option but finish up one report and start doing my laundry, yep not done any laundry since I last mentioned I had a Kanzu left, now prolly will have to wrap myself in my curtains or something of the sort to make a West African outfit and dash to the Goat Race, I guess no one will notice it is my curtains.

Laundry laundry laundry I doubt it but will give it my best shot in the next few hours.

While At The Hospital

While awaiting my blood and urology test results, with the feel of having a baby hippo seated on my head (seriously thats how my migraines felt) I bumped into Edet after a long while and well trust him for always having something interesting to share, did meet Kefa too that certainly gave me something to laugh about as we went back through time, though it is not pretty easy to laugh with a headache and pending results. And well Sitenda thanks for running a follow up since you got wind of how weak I had gotten. Other than that Grace is suggesting I make a follow up on getting my spinal fluid checked for other parasites (that procedure is damn painful, but must say is worth it) even though I confirmed to her I will take the procedure, am not about to have a dart size needle in my back but will do so soon.

A routine blood test is vital, and ya'll should know your blood group it does come in handy too (hint-hint)

Death By A Ninja

Sometime back or well it must have been early this year, there was mention of excessive brutality from migrant workers in Kampala and especially with reference to the Indian employers mistreating the Uganda/African workers out here in Uganda, well that all cooled off after the Mabira strikes, but was quickly followed up by an article by slavary of Asians by Asian which was a pretty sad story especially for those Asians that where promised by their fellow country men and on reaching Uganda where forced into all unspeakable forms of work loads.

Fresh from watching WBS news 9 PM news edition there is a story about some two Chineese one male and the other female who slapped a Ugandan lady for failing to perform something and later locked her up in a room and beat the life out of her until Boda-Boda men where able to hear her loud screams and cry outs for help that they where able to break her free from her tortures, the footage on TV was worrying if we need to do something about our Workers Union.

Death by a Ninja, anyone? and well this was nothing from Kunfu Panda

Malaria ++

Just woken up after a series of events today, as last mentioned yesterday when my body started to act up thought it was the usual headache I get from either being stressed or over worked, but by 7AM when I woke up to get some work done on the hospitalproject, for some reason I could not get myself out of bed, the migraine had taken another form, the level of pain was beyond what I have felt before, I tried my shower routine that I get done every morning to shake off all pains sleep and a session to focus on the day ahead, that failed, could not seem to keep my head up for any longer than 90 seconds. I tried the lazy man routine of sleeping for an extra 4 hours with hope that when I awake all will be normal, it was not stress it was not hunger it was not luck of sleep. At this time kinda felt helpless not able to get out of bed nor move out of my bedroom, I was home alone as usual and now in a desperate move, I only had enough energy to call Papa to come check on me.

A quick dash to the hospital and several tests later the man in the white coat said I had malaria ++, even if I showed no sign of fever or temperature. They took my blood for tests and well asked me to squeeze the lemon for a series of urology tests.

Now as he told me that I remembered the mosquito that must have beaten me actually I know the lil bugger that beat me and got me sick we where in Kibuli a day ago, and am sure very sure it was the mosquito that beat me that night that morning 3:34 AM I remember mentioning that bite. Anyways I have been put on panadol for the headaches and a 3 day doze of Artequin -600/750 (Artesunate + Mefloquine) the headaches are gone and am back to my routine by the time my mother called to check on me I was fit as a fiddle she doesn't still belief a while ago my head was about to blow off.

The world statistics on malaria don't look good. And not many have access to medical assistance.

A No Show Again

Just back from having dinner with Peter and his female companion, unfortunately my dinner date Victoria could not make it to our famous Kula Kula joint, I think this is the second time she is failing to show up hope it is not turning into an annual trend.

Keep that in mind, it was the standard 5 butter naans as usual, by the virtual of authority entrusted in me by chefs alive and long gone, I think Kula Kula restaurant has got the bestest butter naans ever. Well thought I would pen more about the meal, but something does not feel right I do not feel right, I think my body is failing me, got this nagging heading that is creeping on pretty fast can't spare another minute will hopeful talk about this meal at a later hour.

Data Loss

As news all over the world of how people are loosing data and others loosing entire country information and vital social security information and just about anything from biodata on prisoners to voters. Well this time around the N70 was stolen (So says Peter) while he took public transport, anyways the N70 (his phone) had vital data not only person to him but towards the etsproject, it was a video indicating a series of bugs that we where facing and needed ironing out from our partners in RSA, well not sure what the "new owner" of the N70 is going to do with all the personal data he has on that phone and the lil but vital data he has on the project, it is scary.

Well I guess we ought to back up data on our digital devices just like we do for our computers (thats if you do), that reminds me got to make a follow up on fixing Florence's Samsung that was brutalized and well Lydia's Samsung that seems to have a whispering mic barely audible on the other side.
